This issue’s Member Spotlight is Part II of our spotlight on the Clines: Bill Cline
Where are you from: I was born and raised in Garrettsville, Ohio Portage County. Lived there most of my life. Then in 2015 I retired and began to prepare our house for sale and moved to Delaware in 2016 to be closer to our grandchildren.
How did you get involved with the Party: I first got involved in the Democratic Party when Kathleen Clyde ran for office the first time. I believe she ran for District 75 representative. I was a registered Republican at the time and switched to Democrat so I could vote for her in the primary. When we moved here I got more interested in politics because of all the negative things going on which are taking away our rights. There are too many to list and they start at the top.
What has the experience been like: What I like best about the Delaware Dems is the people. We have met a lot of wonderful people and have worked with some great candidates. We need to get more people in office that care about the residents and not their own interests.
When you’re not helping Democrats win elections what do you like to do: My favorite activity is Muskie Fishing. I love to catch the big ones and then release them. My personal best is 50”. I also really enjoy live music which is lacking here compared to Portage County. We lived a half hour from Kent and went there often. I am also active in the Veterans community. I am a Life Member of VFW Post 5067 in Garrettsville which I helped form. Since moving to Delaware I joined the American Legion in Sunbury and the Delaware County Veterans Association. We do many Military Funerals. I very much enjoy doing those services because it means a great deal to the families. An old saying is, “After the rifles are fired and taps is played, if you don’t have a tear in your eye, you’re not human.”
